Why granite suits a kitchen

Granite is a very hard natural stone. It handles heat, knives and daily use well, and it stands up to lemon and vinegar too. That makes it the safest of the three stones we work with for a kitchen that gets used a lot.

Dark granite with small grains hides crumbs and water marks well. Light granite should be sealed so grease and colour don't soak in.

Granites we recommend

These are the five granites we recommend most often:

  • Black Galaxy: black with small golden grains that catch the light.
  • Nero Assoluto (Absolute Black): completely black and calm.
  • Steel Grey: mid to dark grey with small, even grains.
  • Kashmir White: light grey-white with small grey and reddish-brown specks.
  • Viscont White: white and grey with flowing stripes. It looks like marble but is a hard granite.

We have well over 100 types of granite, marble and quartz, so ask us for photos of other slabs.

What a granite worktop costs

The price depends on the stone, size, thickness, edge profile and how many cutouts you need. The most common thicknesses are 2 cm and 3 cm, but we make any thickness you want. The quote is fixed and includes stone, cutouts, the check measurement at your home, freight and fitting.

Our prices are lower than the big chains because the slabs are cut and polished at our partner workshop in Europe, where the work costs less than in Oslo.

Cutouts, islands and IKEA kitchens

Your worktop comes ready for an undermounted sink, a flush or top-mounted hob, and holes for the tap. We also make kitchen islands with stone down the sides, and worktops for IKEA, Kvik and Epoq kitchens. If you have an old worktop, we remove it.

How it works

  1. Send measurements, a sketch or a photo

Take a photo of the kitchen or bathroom and send it on WhatsApp with rough measurements. A sketch on paper is fine.

  2. Fixed quote within 24 hours

The quote is free and includes stone, cutouts, the check measurement, freight and fitting.

  3. Check measurement at your home

Once you say yes, we come and measure precisely. The worktop is made from these measurements.

  4. Production and shipping

The slab is cut and polished at our partner workshop in Europe and shipped to Oslo.

  5. Delivery and fitting

When the worktop is on its way, we agree a day with you. Then we carry it in, fit it and adjust it, usually 7 to 10 days after you said yes.

Questions about granite worktops

Does granite handle heat and acid?

Yes. Granite is very hard and handles heat, scratches and acid from lemon and vinegar well, which is why we call it the safest choice for a kitchen.

Do you need to measure at my home?

Yes. We give you a price from the measurements you send, but the worktop is made from our own check measurement at your home, so it fits your walls and cabinets exactly. The check measurement is included in the price.

How long does it take?

It takes 7 to 10 days from your yes to a fitted worktop. Custom orders with an unusual stone can take 3 to 4 weeks. When the worktop is on its way to Oslo, we agree a fitting day with you.
